A lesser know fact about me is that I love books that combine fiction with facts. Especially the ones that have a lot of details related to Forensic Science and Medicine. If that’s your sort of thing too, then here are the books you must read:
- Patricia Cornwell’s The Last Precinct
Frankly I love all of Cornwell’s books with Scarpetta in the lead, but this is my favorite. Dark, with the detailing done to just the right amount. And it will definitely get you hooked to her novels. You also end up getting to know a lot about Forensic and police work… more than you do from watching Castle actually 😉
- Michael Crichton’s A Case Of Need
One of the best books I have ever read on the topic of Abortion and also a book that really changed my perspective on medical issues. There are two sides to everything. Always. This book needs to be on the bookshelf of anyone with an open mind and an interest in medicine. Tip: Don’t forget to read the extra pages , before and after, the actual story.
- Arthur Hailey’s The Final Diagnosis
Hailey’s book perfectly describes the workings of a hospital. The different departments, their workings, the people in charge, and much more. All interlinked with the story in the background that’s equally gripping. Read this one if you want a crash course on what actually happens inside a hospital and enjoy a good book at the same time.
Yes, I know these books are relatively old. How did I come across them? Parents’ library back home in India.:D If you can’t find the book, check online. They are all bestsellers so must be out there 🙂
More some other day… For now, Happy Reading 🙂
